Welcome back to school!

September is such an exciting month! For teachers and students, it is a month of change and new beginnings, new surroundings, new friends, new experiences, new skills and new challenges. With that being said, We welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year! Our names are Mrs. Alicea & Mrs. Heffron and we look forward to being your child’s first grade teachers this year.

We have a very exciting year ahead of us! This school year your child will explore a world of learning, and will develop many new skills. Skills that include becoming readers and writers, to developing friendship skills that will last a lifetime. Students will have opportunities to learn one-on-one, in pairs, in small cooperative groups, and as a whole class. We will work hard on creating a warm, respectful classroom environment in which all students feel safe to work alongside their peers and take risks.

Please take the time to discuss each school day with your child. Ask open-ended questions, and offer positive feedback. review all work brought home and set aside a special place for displaying your child’s work. Your constant interest will play an important role in your child’s learning success.

We are delighted to have your child in our class! This year promises to be an exciting and productive one for you and your child. Please know that each child will be taken care of educationally and emotionally. We are looking forward to a wonderful year. We hope that together we will share in the wonderful and amazing transformation that is first grade!
